Toy Review: The Recon Mini Con Team

JoltRevebSixSpeedrobot.gif

Date Purchased: 01/23/06

Retail Price: $9.97

Consists of: Jolt, Reverb, and Six Speed toys and instructions.

Jolt

Jolt is probably the easiest of the three Mini Cons to Transform.  You just have to pull his pontoons out fro the sides to form his arms then you have to pull his tail rudder then unfold the parts that make up his legs.  That's it.

Reverb

Is a small blue pickup truck.  You just have to pull his arms out from the sides then flip his legs in front and then pull his hands from behind his back.

Sixspeed

Sixspeed is a green racing car.  He transforms almost as easily as Reverb and Jolt do.  His arms are a little more difficult to transform because you have to flip them backwards and forwards to get them moving.

My only critism about the Recon Mini Con Team is that I didn't need instructions to learn how to transform them.  I read them once and then it was easy peasy.

Toy Review: Snarl

Date Purchased: 01/02/06

Retail value: $17.22

Transformation Level: 2

Review Overall: Snarl is probably the semi-easiest toy to transform but you have to get the peg on his shoulder to line up with the hole in his neck.  Also you have to make certain that all four of his legs are down far enough so that he doesn't tip over when you try to stand him up.

Snarl's cyber key reveals some mighty impressive yellow sabre teeth.  But the down fall of this is that the little pieces of plastic that are acting as tuffts of hair on the sides of his head must be postitioned in such a way as to keep his mouth opened otherwise the key will fall out.

Weapon: Snarl's tail has two functions.  It can act as a missile launcher and it can act as a sword.  Either way it's not a very functional feature.

Caption Contest.

In keeping with the spirit of Transformers: Cybertron I've decided to hold a caption contest.  Every week I'll post the best captions on this site but keep in mind that there are a few ground rules.

1.  Captions are to be kept PG 13 and under.

2.  Contest is opened to all members of BWTF.com, TFans, and the All Spark.

3.  To conserve blogging space please limit your caption to a minimum of 3 lines per entry.

4.  Be creative.  Remember the more creative you are the better the chances that your entry will be approved.

May the best bot win.

Topics to avoid: I can do without hearing any "Queen Of The Nile" jokes.  I'm also aware that Hot Shot has a bird's eye view of what's inbetween Override's legs.  It's not that amazing.

Best of luck.

Kids WB To Discontinue Its Weekday Afternoon Line Up. Saturday Morning Line Up Will Be Extended By 1 Hour.

It is with great sadness that i must report that the Kids WB Aftertoons Show will be discontinued, by the request of the WB affilliates, as of January 2006.  However to even things out the Kids WB Saturday morning line up will be extended by 1 hour starting at 7:00 AM and running through until 12:00 PM.

What this means to the future broadcasts of Cybertron remains to be seen but hopefully both the Cartoon Network and Kids WB can come up with a compromise that will make people who get one or both channels happy.

Toy Review: Override.

Override is by far my favourite Transformers: Cybertron toy to date and despite a few flaws in the toy I can say that she is my favourite for a number of reasons.

Override's cyber planet key reveals a missile launcher on her back which can be detached from her back and put into her hand.

Design overall

Probably not the easiest toy in the world to transform possibly because her arms and back spring out if you don't attach them to the body properly but I finally got a TF:C toy that didn't pop off body parts with rough play.

The attention to Override's dragster design is remarkable.  Her red, white and black design makes it truly a good toy but the missile launchers and jets are made out of a cheap rubber that can easily break and may become a choking hazzard if very young children are not supervised.

Her robot mode is another story.  Forgive me Hasbro for saying this but what's with you making female Transformers with 6 in stileto shoes?

Value

For $17.22 it's a good value and I can say without any false modesty that this is the toy to get any Trans-Fan.
